COLOMBO : The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka (MCSL) endorsed the call by Archbishop Cardinal Malcom Ranjith to investigate and prosecute those who masterminded the dastardly terrorist attacks of 21st April 2019. The MCSL requests all Muslims to join the call by His Eminence Cardinal Malcom Ranjith for silent protests on Sunday the 7th of March 2021.
The Council made this statement in support of Archdiocese of Colombo and His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, have called for a peaceful protest against the Easter Sunday Presidential Committee of Inquiry report, calling it “Black Sunday”.
The MCSL reiterates that there was no Islamic cause behind the violence unleashed by terrorists on innocent Christians at prayer in their Churches and others in hotels; Islam forbids killing of innocents even during wars. The suicide bombers violated all Islamic principles, and hence were denied Islamic funeral rites. The Muslim community joins all Sri Lankans in asking for an immediate and impartial enquiry to find the people responsible in planning and carrying out the terrorist attacks and bring them to justice.
