COLOMBO : IN a statement issued by Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Rauff Hakeem, MP, has severely condemned the Israel’s attack on Iran
” It is utterly unconscionable that the Netanyahu Government, in continuation of its fleeting contempt, born of an entrenched culture of impunity, for International Law and the principles of the United Nations, carried out a series of air attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran on 13th June 2025.
It was a blatant attempt to destabilise Iran and create chaos across the Middle East and the wider region.
We unreservedly condemn these dastardly acts, so callously executed with the full complicity of Israel’s strategic patrons.
Iran has every right to defend itself against this aggression. Normalisation of the diabolical conduct of Netanyahu and his genocidal team which is responsible for serious attrocities committed against the people of Gaza and for the instigation of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is far too dangerous for international peace and security.
Iran and every country in the world has an inalienable right to peaceful exploration of nuclear power. Iran is a party to the Non-proliferation Treaty and has accepted IAEA safeguards. No country has the authority to unilaterally carry out any armed actions against another country, for whatever reasons, shunning the path to diplomacy and negotiation.
We demand that the entire Middle East be declared as a zone free of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons and that the illegal occupation of the Palestinian Territory brought to an end forthwith..”
