Sri Lanka Mission In Chennai Facilitates Investment Engagements In Sri Lanka

CHENNAI : The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan
Geathiswaran, facilitated a visit to Sri Lanka by a delegation from Chennai, with a view
to exploring potential investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by the Deputy High Commissioner, held
meetings with Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative
Development of Sri Lanka, Wasantha Samarasinghe; Deputy Minister of Education and
Higher Education, Dr. Madhura Senevirathna, M.P. and senior government officials. The
discussions focused on exploring avenues for investment collaboration, gaining a deeper
understanding of Sri Lanka’s business and investment landscape, and identifying sectors
of mutual interest for future partnerships and cooperation.
During the discussions, the delegation expressed its interest in pursuing investment
opportunities in Sri Lanka and indicated a potential investment commitment of
approximately USD 30 million, subject to further consultations and project evaluations.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain insights into Sri
Lanka’s investment potential and ongoing economic development initiatives, while
further strengthening economic linkages and fostering greater collaboration between the
business communities of Sri Lanka and India.
