Sri Lanka – Maldives Business Council (SLMLBC) holds talks with Ranga Goonawardena, high commissioner designate to Male

COLOMBO ; The Sri Lanka – Maldives Business Council (SLMLBC) recently hosted an interactive session with Ranga Goonawardena, the newly appointed High Commissioner Designated to the Maldives, at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The session aimed to facilitate dialogue and provide insights into the business landscape of the Maldives. Attendees had the opportunity. directly talking to Goonawardena and discuss opportunities and issues faced by Sri Lankan companies conducting business with the Maldives. 

Buwanekabahu Perera, CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, delivered the welcome remarks, setting the tone for the session.  

Ranga Goonawardena, in his address, provided valuable information on opportunities for collaboration, offering insights into potential partnerships between Sri Lanka and the Maldives. He also mentioned ongoing discussions between Sri Lanka and Maldives for a Treaty on investor protection and double taxation.

Sudesh Mendis, President of the Sri Lanka – Maldives Business Council, shared his insights on bilateral business relations between the two countries. He further mentioned that the Council looks forward to continued support and to working closely with the High Commissioner.

The attendees had the opportunity to pose questions to . Ranga Goonawardena, followed by a networking opportunity. Attendees actively participated in this event, which provided a perfect opportunity for all members to engage directly with the High Commissioner Designate.

The session proved useful for all participants, aiding Sri Lankan companies in better understanding how to conduct business with the Maldives. 

As Sri Lanka endeavors to maintain its current economic ties with the Maldives, the Sri Lanka Maldives Business Council will undoubtedly serve as a major conduit in fostering such relationships.
