COLO.bO : A significant industry gathering aimed at strengthening cooperation between Sri Lanka and India in the apparel and retail sectors was held re cently at the auditorium of the Chennai Trade Centre in India.
The event brought together leading businessmen, industry professionals and key representatives from Sri Lanka and India, providing an important platform to explore new opportunities for collaboration and strengthen bilateral business relations.
Ihsan Wahid, Chairman of iKING, one of Sri Lanka’s leading apparel companies, attended the event as a Guest of Honour. His participation highlighted the growing importance of stronger business and industrial ties between the two countries.
MSM Mubarak, Proprietor of Mubarak Textiles, and Reesha Ashraf, Chairperson of Front Line, also participated in the gathering.
Vijay Balaji, a prominent figure in India’s handloom and textile sector, attended as the Chief Guest and added glamour to the event.
Several other prominent industry representatives also graced the occasion as Guests of Honour, including Vijay Purohit of GGMA, Ashish Nigam of the Indore Association, MKM R. Balasubramaniam of DITGMA Tiruppur, Anurag Shingla of SIGA Bengaluru, and Prakash Bhojani of KAKA Bengaluru.
Representatives from several leading retail businesses in Tamil Nadu, including Pothys, Maharaja, Sumangali and Pacchaiyappas, were also among those who attended the event.
The participation of iKING Chairman Ihsan Wahid is expected to contribute towards strengthening trade, business and industrial relations between Sri Lanka and India, particularly in the apparel and retail sectors.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders from both countries to establish new professional networks, exchange ideas and explore potential avenues for future cooperation.
Organisers expressed confidence that the event would pave the way for new business opportunities, stronger industrial partnerships and enhanced collaboration between the apparel and retail sectors of Sri Lanka and India.
