COLOMBO: Sri Lanka donated a consignment of its Ceylon Tea as a gesture of solidarity and goodwill to the flood victims of Pakistan on Monday,September 5.
Foreign Minister Ali Sabry handed over the donation to the Pakistan High Commissioner Umar Farooq Burki at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
Minister Sabry who was leaving for Geneva to attend the UN Human Rights Conference on Monday night told Colombo Times that this donation is a token of gesture to display the long standing friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. “ Although we are going through difficult times,its our duty to help a close friend in need in whatever possible manner,” he concluded.
