COLOMBO : Police have launched special operations to identify motorists driving recklessly or under the influence during the school holiday period.
Police Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler said around 10,000 traffic officers have been deployed for the operations.
He emphasized that the police are making every effort to prevent dangerous road accidents and urged the public to share responsibility for road safety.
ASP Wootler said the aim is to prevent children and other loved ones from losing their lives or being separated from their families due to reckless driving.
