Special Advisor to President,Ruwan Wijewardene  to attend the Africa Climate Summit

COLOMBO : Special Advisor on Climate Change to the President of Sri Lanka , Ruwan
Wijewardene arrived in Kenya Sunday  evening September 3  to attend the Africa Climate Summit on behalf of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The  Africa Climate Summit will commence Monday  in  Nairobi and President Wickremesinghe was invited by his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto.
The Africa Climate Summit, set to take place in Kenya serves as a crucial platform for discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing climate change challenges on the African continent and globally. Sri Lanka highly values the opportunity to engage in such important discussions and share our commitment to climate action.
 Twenty heads of states across the globe are expected to attend the summit. This summit, coming after the Paris summit where greater clarity emerged, will be a critical opportunity to accelerate the global energy transition and deliver solutions to the COP28 in Dubai the United Arab Emirates.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Nairobi  V Kana  Kananathan said  President Ranil Wickramasinghe’svision has shown a strong commitment to promoting green energy and sustainableenvironmental practices and under his leadership, Sri Lanka has embarked onseveral initiatives and policies aimed at advancing green energy production, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and fostering a sustainable future.
