South Eastern University to establish 3D modeling and robotics laboratory with Turkish aid

COLOMBO: The Department of Information and Communication Technology at the Faculty of Technology of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) has received modern 3D printing and robotic equipment from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to establish a 3D modeling and robotics laboratory.

The equipment was handed over to the SEUSL on Friday, December 8, 2023, in a ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. Rameez Aboobucker, the Vice Chancellor of SEUSL,  Deans, Heads of Departments, academic and non-academic staff, students of the university, and representatives from TIKA.

In his speech at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rameez Aboobucker said that the event marked not only the physical transfer of advanced technology but also the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and technological advancement. He also stressed that the donation would have a transformative impact on the university’s research and education sectors.

The Vice-Chancellor also requested TIKA’s support in establishing a solar system on the university campus. In response to the request, TIKA officials pledged their full cooperation.

The collaboration between the SEUSL and TIKA is a major milestone in the development of science and technology education in Sri Lanka. The equipment will provide researchers and students with the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, which will help them create innovative solutions and solve challenges.

The success of this collaboration will help to strengthen relations between the two countries and brighten the future of science and technology in Sri Lanka.
