COLOMBO: It was a privilege to be part of a small group of well- wishers to distribute funds to families in a flood affected areas Wednesday morning on June 18.
It was an opportunity for me to show the authorities on how to distribute funds for affected people without keeping them in long queues and long hours as they are already facing untold hardships due to pandemic by way of lockdown and floods.
We visited this unfortunate deprived area known as Doowa in Mabola Wattala to distribute cash of Rs 2500 to each family and among 550 families.
To participate in this humanitarian mission my request that we must not bring the recipients to a particular place but to go to their door-step.
With the support of the areas people, a group of six people was able to carry out the distribution in less than an hour,
