COLOMBO- The protestors at the Galle Face Green who urge president Gotabaya Rajapaksa to go home, are spending their seventh day in succession demonstrating their wrath against the ruling SLPP party dominated by the Rajapaksa family.
They did not go home to celebrate their New Year, they spent the day at the so-called ‘Gotagama’ with someone hosting them with Kiribath,kevun and kokis.
The whole place is crowded with hundreds of people from all walks of life and from all faiths. When one group goes another group comes in to the site of the demonstration where some music going on 24/7 to keep the crowd going.
An elderly man told Colombo Times it is sad that these youths are on the streets on the day of the New Year, otherwise, they would be with their families.
Mothers with their babies evince their silent protests against the misdoings of the government. Pix show that the mothers are putting their babies to sleep at the protest site.
