COLOMBO — The Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town, a vibrant club with over four decades of impactful service and a strong legacy in youth leadership, held its 46th Installation Ceremony at the New Arts Theatre Auditorium recently, where Rtr. Shazeena Naushad was inducted as President for the RI year 2025 – 26, along with her Board of Directors.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Rtn. Jananga Piyadasa, President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town, while Guests of Honour PHF Rtn. PP G.S. Sylvester, District Youth Service Advisor, and PHF Rtn. PP Haneeka Rahil, District Rotaract Chair, also attended. Adding further prestige to the occasion, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP Nazmi Mahmood, members of the District Rotaract Steering Committee, Rotarians, Interactors, and representatives from Rotaract clubs across District 3220 – Sri Lanka and Maldives – were present.
The evening began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by the national anthem and Rotaract formalities. In his farewell address, outgoing President Rtr. Haneef highlighted the club’s achievements over the past year, including community service initiatives and youth development projects, while extending gratitude to members and mentors for their support.
The highlight of the evening was the installation of Rtr. Shazeena Naushad as the 46th President. The official collaring and presentation of the charter certificate marked the formal transfer of leadership.
In her inaugural speech, Rtr. Shazeena Naushad expressed appreciation for the trust placed in her and outlined her vision for the year ahead. Reflecting on her fifth year in her Rotaract journey, she said, “Our focus will be on service that creates meaningful impact, while also nurturing leadership and fellowship among our members,” pledging to continue the club’s strong legacy.
