COLOMBO :The Chairman of Serendip Foundation, Educator Amanullah Jamaldeen, held separate meetings with the Pakistani High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd.) Nayyar Naseer, and the Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Damiano Francovik, at their respective diplomatic missions on Tuesday (29).
The discussions focused on improving the livelihoods of the people of Kinniya, expanding educational opportunities for young people, enhancing vocational training and creating new employment opportunities.
During the meetings, particular attention was given to the socio-economic challenges faced by the people of Kinniya and the need to explore sustainable development initiatives to improve their living standards. The importance of international cooperation in strengthening youth skills, facilitating access to quality education and generating sustainable employment opportunities was also highlighted.
In a significant development, the Italian Ambassador, Damiano Francovik, expressed his commitment to undertaking a visit to Kinniya next month to observe the living conditions of the local community and gain first-hand insights into the challenges they face.
The proposed visit is expected to provide an opportunity to better understand the needs of the people of Kinniya and explore possible avenues for development assistance and collaborative initiatives aimed at improving their socio-economic well-being.
Serendip Foundation has been actively implementing a range of livelihood support and community development initiatives across Sri Lanka, with a particular focus on education, economic empowerment and social welfare. The Foundation continues to strengthen its engagement with international organisations and diplomatic missions to expand its development programmes and create sustainable opportunities for vulnerable communities.
The meetings mark a continued effort by Serendip Foundation to foster international partnerships and mobilise support for the long-term development and well-being of the people of Kinniya.
