NEGOMBO : A school employee was arrested by the police on suspicion that he has set fire to important documents of the school in Negombo.
The incident took place at St. Joseph’s College, Katulkale in Negombo when two iron shelves were set on fire to burn the documents and books of accounts.
A complaint was lodged with the police that the account books and important documents kept in two iron shelves in the college office had caught fire.
The investigation was carried out on the advice of Udayakumara Woodler, Chief of Police, Negombo. A police team led by J M S Jayanath arrested the college employee Indrajith Ramawickrama from Arumbala, Kandy.
The fire broke out at around 3 am on Tuesday morning. Police said they are investigating whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
