COLOMBO — The Saunders Sports Club 106th Annual General Meeting was held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on Saturday August 24. It was held under the patronage of President of the Club Rizmi Reyal.
New office bearers were elected for the year 2024/2025.
Dacshitha Sumathipala elected as a President of the Club, Vice Presidents V.C. Park, Andrew Molit and Mohamed Najibdeen were also elected.
Secretary Sumith Walpola, Assistant Secretary Jagath Rohana, Treasurer Isuru Perera, Assistant Treasurer Mahela Bandara.
Tokens of Appreciation were presented to those who rendered services to the uplift of Club many years. Rizmi Reyal, Ajantha Liyanage, Jayasinghe Mendis and L.H. Piyasena received mementos from the organizers.
The Newly Appointed President Dacshitha Sumathipala said in his speech Saunders Sports Club has long been a pillar of excellence in Sri Lankan football. Our legacy is filled with remarkable achievements, hard-fought victories, and an unwavering commitment to the sport. As we celebrate our past, we must also look to the future with determination and a clear vision.
My vision for Saunders Sports Club is to build on our storied history and take this club to even greater heights. This will require a collective effort, and I am confident that together, we can achieve remarkable things.
Youth Development: Investing in our youth programs is essential. We will provide our young players with the resources, coaching, and opportunities they need to succeed both on and off the field.
Community Engagement: Football is a unifying force, and Saunders Sports Club will continue to strengthen our ties with the community. We will work to ensure that our club is inclusive and represents the best of what our community has to offer.
Competitive Excellence: Saunders has a proud tradition of success, and we will strive to maintain and elevate our competitive edge. Every match, every training session will be approached with the goal of achieving excellence.
Success in football, as in life, is not achieved alone. I call on all of you—players, coaches, members, and supporters—to join me in this journey. Together, we can ensure that Saunders Sports Club continues to be a leader in Sri Lankan football.
