Saudi-based foreign diplomats host farewell reception to Lankan ambassador Amsa

RIYADH : On behalf of the diplomatic corps , a farewell reception was hosted by Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of Djibouti to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia HE Dyaddin Said Bamakhrama to Ambassador Amza who is scheduled to relinquish his duties as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in mid May 2024.

Speaking at the event Ambassador Amza recalled the positive vibes that were infused in the Saudi Sri Lanka relations and productive engagement between the two countries during his term of office which included the first ever foreign ministerial visit of bilateral nature from Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka , over a dozen of ministerial visits from Colombo to Riyadh and vice versa which included the visit of Sri Lankan foreign minister to the Kingdom, convening of the First Session of Joint Committee which identified 63 areas for cooperation, signing of three agreements and concluding three more agreements , drawing of the road map for economic cooperation and emergence of Saudi Arabia as the number one destination for foreign employment for Sri Lankans generating 63,000 employment in the year 2023.

Several Ambassadors accredited to Saudi Arabia and their spouses took part in the event.
