COLOMBO : The Saudi Arabian embassy in Colombo celebrated its 93rd National Day hosted by its ambassador Khalid Hamoud Nasser Aldasam Alkahtani.
A reception hosted by the ambassador was well attended by people from all walks of life including former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, ministers, legislators , members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials,ulamas and prominent members of the local community.
Environment Minister Hafiz Naseer Ahamed was the chief guest at the function held at the Colombo’S prestigious Galla Face Hotel on Monday.
Ambassador AlKahatani outlined the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He recalled that the Saudi Fund For Development has been assisting the construction of several projects in Sri Lanka such Kinniya bridge, Epilepsy Hospital, National Trauma Center and many other projects .
Minister Ahamed said that Saudi Arabia has been a good friend of Sri Lanka in good and bad times . Saudi Arabia is home to some 150,000 Lankan workers and also it has been offering financial aid to support a few projects in the island
