Saudi Arabia celebrates its 93rd National Day: Celebrating Unity, Heritage, and Progress

Every year on September 23rd, Saudi Arabia, the largest kingdom in the Middle East, celebrates its National Day. This important occasion commemorates the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by its founder, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, in 1932.

Saudi Arabia’s National Day is a momentous event that holds great significance for its people, as it symbolizes unity, heritage, and progress.

This year the Kingdom celebrates its National Day under the theme “We dream and achieve.” the identity is inspired by Saudi ambitious goals, aligning them with the reality of the massive projects promised in Vision 2030.

To celebrate the 93rd national day, Saudi Arabia launched a new design as an identity of the national day. The identity was inspired by the dreams that have become close and realistic in all aspects of the life of the people of Saudi Arabia. It was clearly reflected in the huge projects that the Kingdom is implementing under the Saudi Vision 2030, which made it consolidate its strength and position to continue providing its important and pivotal role at all levels.  The core elements of the identity were derived from Saudi Vision 2030’s most notable projects. The new design places a man and a woman at the center representing the Kingdom’s youth who are surrounded by symbols of different Saudi projects.

Saudi Arabia’s National Day celebrations are centered on unity. Saudis gather as a country on this day to celebrate their common history, values, and aspirations. The Saudi people’s strength, dedication to their nation, and pride in their national identity are reflected in the solidarity they showed during the celebrations. As Saudi Arabia’s National Day approaches each year, anticipation and excitement build up across the country. Streets are adorned with the Saudi flag, and people proudly display their national colors. Families and friends gather for festive meals, exchange greetings, and participate in joyful activities. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and optimism as the Saudi people reflect on their nation’s past, celebrate its present, and envision a bright future.

Heritage plays a crucial role in National Day celebrations. The Kingdom boasts a rich cultural heritage that spans thousands of years. The country is the birthplace of Islam and is home to the two holiest cities in Islam, Makkah and Madina. As part of the celebrations, various events and activities are organized to showcase the nation’s cultural heritage. Traditional dances, such as the Ardha, a traditional sword dance, are performed, and folk music fills the air. Exhibitions and showcases highlight the Kingdom’s historical artifacts, traditional handicrafts, and local cuisine, providing a glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s vibrant past. Armed forces of the kingdom will participate in various activities to mark the national day, including aerial and marine shows in several regions across the kingdom. The Royal Navy of the Kingdom is also participating in the events with naval parades and shows.

One of the thrilling events lined up for the 93rd Saudi National Day is AZIMUTH in Al Ula. The music festival, running from dusk till dawn, promises an impressive lineup of both local and regional artists. Its set to be an exciting celebration. To kick off the National day celebration the general entertainment authority of the Saudi Arabia has released four special theme songs: “Our Date 2030”, “Above the Clouds”, “Yes”, and “My Home is here.”

Its noteworthy that Saudi Arabia’s National Day also serves as an occasion to reflect on the nation’s progress and accomplishments. Over the past few decades, the Kingdom has undergone significant transformations in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and technology. The celebrations are an opportunity to showcase these achievements and highlight the nation’s vision for the future. Spectacular firework displays, parades, and cultural performances are held across the country, demonstrating the advancements made and the aspirations for continued growth and development.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s National Day is celebrated worldwide. The celebrations are shared by Saudi communities all over the world, generating pride and a sense of cohesion among the Saudi diasporas. Events and exhibitions are put on by embassies and cultural institutions so that Saudis living abroad can connect with their history and commemorate their national day.

The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Sri Lanka also organized a significant celebratory event in Colombo under the direction of His Excellency Khalid Hamoud Al-Kahthani, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Sri Lanka. The ceremony on September 25 will be attended by notable dignitaries.

As a symbol of the historical ties between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia, we greet all Saudi Arabians a happy National Day on behalf of the Sri Lankan people.
