COLOMBO : Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to appoint former skipper Sanath Jayasuriya as a cricket consultant, sources said.
While the decision has been taken, however, cricket sources reported that discussions pertaining to the matter are still underway, and that a final consensus is yet to be reached.
Jayasuriya, who was a member of the 1996 World Cup winning Sri Lanka team, is expected to fulfill his role as a consultant by providing his expertise in several key areas such as training and coaching, and the overall development of the national squad.
