Royal Commonwealth Society Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

COLOMBO – The prestigious Royal Commonwealth Society – Sri Lanka Celebrated its Diamond Jubilee at the California Grill  Galadari Hotel in Colombo on Friday September 22 with the High Commissioner of Australia in Sri Lanka Paul Stephens gracing the occasion as the chief guest.

The Annual General Meeting and a Gala Dinner for the High Commissioners accredited to Sri Lanka, British Council Acting Director Rasika Mendries and the RCS members followed.

High Commissioners of Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Maldives, British, Malaysia along with Ifthikhar Aziz were cut the anniversary cake at this ceremony.   

RCS President Ifthikhar Aziz proposed a toast to His Majesty King Charles 111 Head of the Commonwealth and Patron of the Royal Commonwealth Society for his good health, happiness and a successful reign. A similar toast was proposed to His Excellency President Ranil Wickremasinghe, Vice President of the Royal Commonwealth Society -Sri Lanka.

Ifthikhar Aziz was elected President, Ms. Nishanie Gunasekera Secretary and Rohan Victoria as Treasurer amid a galaxy of well-known personalities forming the Management Council.
