Rotaract Club of Wellawatte (RCW) carried out a community service project titled as “Plastic to Fantastic”

RUZAIK FAROOK
COLOMBO — Early May 2024, the Rotaract Club of Wellawatte (RCW) carried out a community service project titled as “Plastic to Fantastic”. During this project, the Rotaractors took to Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) to collect all the plastic waste that were discarded throughout the climbing and vicinity. The collected plastics were then handed over to nearby schools, St. Joseph Primary Tamil Vidyalayam, Maskeliya, Gangewatha Tamil vidyalayam, Maskeliya and Norwood Tamil Maha Vidyalayam, Hatton respectively, to create innovative solutions.
This year, in May 2025, the artwork was displayed in the schools for students, parents and other respective personnels to see. RCW has pooled the images together, to create a message and spread awareness on the extent of plastic pollution around Sri Lanka and encourage responsible behaviour among citizens in the country.”
