Returnees from overseas can buy their air tickets directly from agents – Army Chief

COLOMBO : Sri Lankans who are returning to the island from overseas do not need to obtain the approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says the Commander of Army General Shavendra Silva.

The revised quarantine measures issued by the Ministry of Health in March had noted that all incoming passengers or tourists are required to obtain the approval of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and other relevant authorities or from Sri Lanka Tourism. 

Colombo Times contacted several missions abroad, they said that they have not still got any news on this new development. However, the Sri Lankan embassy in Riyadh has requested its expatriates through its website has requested the migrants to buy their return air tickets directly from their agents.A  Lankan diplomat stationed abroad told Colombo Times that the missions will act only on the advice of the foreign ministry or the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment(SLBFE)
