COLOMBO – The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Muslim Service will broadcast Azan of the famous Qari the late Ramiz Alim on 13th Thursday March for the commencement of its Iftar breakfast Azan program.
Muslims in Sri Lanka as well as in Tamil Nadu used to stay mesmerized for the echo of Ramiz Alim’s Azan which lingers in their hearts and minds forever.
Qari Moulavi W. H. L. M. Ramiz Alim was the first Azan Broadcaster through (Radio Ceylon) Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Muslim Service in 1948 during the Holy Month of Ramazan.
The family members of Ramiz Alim has been thankful to the Head of the SLBC Muslim Service Ms. Rinoziya Jaufer for broadcasting his Azan.
Ramiz Alim was well known throughout the Country. He was a Teacher of Islam at Zahira College Colombo and a great Qari in the recital of the Holy Quran.
He passed away on the 12th day of Ramazan (20th of October 1972 ) at the age of 84.
