Ramadan began in Saudi Arabia from midnight on Friday,Sri Lanka likely to start on Saturday,April 1

RIYADH/COLOMBO: Saudi Arabia sighted to Ramadan crescent on Friday evening on March 31, the Supreme Court of the Kingdom announced on the same day.

Muslims in Saudi Arabia began their fasting from midenight on Friday, while Muslims in Sri Lanka are yet to decide depending on the visibility of the moon on Saturday.

The President of the Colombo Grand Mosque, Thaufik Zubyr told Colombo Times that the ‘Moon Sighting Committee’ of the Grand Mosque will meet on Saturday evening after Margiob prayers to decide the beginning of the holy month.

Scholars from leading Muslim organizations have been invited to participate in the decision making event,Zubyr said,
