Ramada by Wyndham Colombo Unveils “Taste of Malay” Food Festival

COLOMBO:Ramada by Wyndham Colombo, in an exclusive collaboration with The Minority Taste by Ruzaina Hadgie, officially launched the “Taste of Malay” Food Festival on 28th April 2026. The opening night, hosted for special invitees and select media, offered a vibrant immersion into the rich heritage and soulful flavours of the Malay community.
The evening served as more than just a dinner; it was a cultural bridge, bringing together members of the Malay community and culinary enthusiasts alike. Notable guests, including embassy officials and members of the media gathered to celebrate the preservation of authentic recipes that have defined Malay households for generations.
Curated by Ruzaina Hadgie, the festival focuses on the “timeless and unique,” moving beyond standard fare to showcase the intricate spices and traditional techniques of Malay cuisine. Ruzaina Hadgie is a prominent figure in the Sri Lankan culinary and lifestyle scene, widely recognized for her expertise as a food consultant, stylist, and content creator. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for authentic flavours, she has played a significant role in elevating the visual and narrative standards of local food brands.
Her work often bridges the gap between traditional heritage and modern presentation, making her a sought-after collaborator for high-end gastronomic events and artisanal product launches. Beyond her technical skills in food styling, she is known for her storytelling ability, frequently sharing insights into the cultural history behind the ingredients and dishes she showcases.
The collaboration aimed to honour the minority culture’s significant contribution to the local culinary landscape in Sri Lanka. The festival is a celebration of vibrant traditions and a carefully curated menu was created to reflect the true essence of Malay culture, bringing those cherished, authentic flavours to the forefront .The festival takes place from 28th to 30th April 2026 for a limited three-night engagement.
