Qatar-Sri Lanka Business Council calls on the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Doha


DOHA :Qatar Sri Lanka Business Council called on Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Doha, Sithara Khan on 31 January 2025 at the Embassy premises.
During the meeting the Ambassador emphasized the importance of promoting Sri Lankan business, investment, and tourism in alignment with the new government’s economic and development vision. She also highlighted the need to explore new opportunities beyond traditional approaches to unlock greater potential. Furthermore, the Ambassador appreciated the Business Council’s voluntary commitment to promoting Sri Lanka as an investment and tourist destination.
President of the QSBC, John Prasad outlined the Council’s strategic plans for 2025, highlighting its efforts to position Sri Lanka as a premier tourist destination while also encouraging Qatari investments in the Port City project. He also shared insights into the initiatives of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) for 2025, which are designed to promote trade and enhance business relations between the two countries.
The QSBC’s 2025 agenda includes organizing key business forums, promoting tourism initiatives, and facilitating direct connections between Sri Lankan businesses and Qatari investors. The Council remains committed to its mission of fostering bilateral trade, investment, and economic collaboration between Sri Lanka and Qatar, ensuring both countries benefit from stronger ties and mutual growth.
Minister of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha, Kashayapa Ukwatta and Minister Counsellor, Dharmasiri Wijewardana were associated with the meeting along with the President, Secretary, and executive members of the Council.
