COLOMBO : The Qatar Charity has successfully implemented a transformative health initiative under its Health Program to Combat Blindness in Sri Lankan Capital Colombo.
The Cataract Surgery project, generously funded by well-wishers from Qatar, has brought light back into the lives of many, with a total project cost of Rs. 44 Million, which consists of over 1000 needy patients.
These projects aimed to address the pressing issue of avoidable visual impairment, particularly in
underprivileged areas.
With a focus on reducing the economic burden on health institutions and alleviating the suffering of poor patients, the project has made significant strides in promoting community health and raising awareness about eye diseases.
The primary objectives of the project were to reduce avoidable cases of visual impairment, lessen the economic strain on health institutions facing challenging
conditions, alleviate the suffering of poor patients, especially in underprivileged areas, promote community health regarding eye diseases, and reduce poverty
associated with disability resulting from visual impairment.
The project has benefited many and is part of an ongoing long term health program of Qatar Charity Sri Lanka office.
These surgeries significantly improved the quality of life of patients. By doing so, it has reduced the economic burdens on health institutions, alleviated the suffering
of poor patients in underprivileged areas, promoted community health and raised awareness about eye diseases, and reduced poverty associated with disability
resulting from visual impairment.
