Professor Acchi Ishak,former lecturer at Dhahran KFUPM passes away in Makkah at 85

COLOMBO :Professor Acchi Ishak, former lecturer at Dhahran KFUPM passed away in Makkah at 85, on Wednesday evening on Dec.25

Professor Ishaq, a native of Nintavur and resident in the United States,was a former Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and was in-charge of the Arabic College, Addalaichchenai

His remains currently lying at the Makkah Hospital and the funeral will be held in the holy city itself after preliminary arrangements.

Professor Ishaq was the son of the late Muthu Muhammad Haji and Khadija of Nintavur. He was beloved husband of the of the late Nazly Ishaq and survived by his son and two daughters who are also US residents.

He was the son in law of Engineer Fazeel and Mareena Majeed of Nintavur.

Professor Ishak was responsible for getting funds from Saudi Arabia for the Maligawatte YMMA to build 175 houses in the Eastern Province Following the cyclone in 1978.
