Prime Minister Returns home after conveying condolences to the Emir of Qatar

COLOMbO: Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who travelled to the State of Qatar to convey the condolences of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka on the passing of the former Father Amir of the State of Qatar, returned to Sri Lanka this morning (16 July) via Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

During her visit to Qatar, the Prime Minister visited Lusail Palace in Doha, where she conveyed her condolences to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current Amir of the State of Qatar.

The Prime Minister subsequently visited Al Wajba Palace, where she conveyed condolences on behalf of Sri Lanka to Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, mother of the Amir of the State of Qatar and Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation. She also expressed condolences to Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, daughters of the late Father Amir, as well as to other members of the Royal Family. The Prime Minister further conveyed condolences on behalf of Sri Lanka to Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family of the State of Qatar.
