
COLOMBO: The Department of Muslim Relgious and Cultural Affairs has made extensive arrangements to conduct the Prophet Muhammed’s Birthday Celebrations, Meelad Un Nabi,in a grand manner.
Acting director of the The Department of Muslim Relgious and Cultural Affairs, Anver Ali told Colombo Times that on Tuesday, October 19, the celebrations will be flagged off with a tree planting ceremony at the Maradana Mosque grounds.
Justice Minister Ali Sabry is slated to plant the tree in the morning at 8.30
The Prime Minister Mahind Rajapaksa will be attending the celebrations organized at the Temple Trees at 4.30 pm on the same day.
The Ministry of Health has instructed the mosque authorities to hold the recital of Meelad Un Nabi celebrations with a maximum of 50 worshippers.
The government has declared Tuesday as a public and mercantile holiday.
