Prime Minister appoints members to the Hindu Cultural Fund

COLOMBO — Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs appointed members for the Hindu Cultural Fund at Temple Trees, Colombo on 17th May.

The Hindu Cultural Fund was established by Act No. 31 of 1985 of the Parliament of Sri Lanka to promote Hindu religious and cultural activities.

Prof. Kapila Gunawardena, Secretary, Ministry of Buddhist, Religious and Cultural Affairs, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Fund and with eight members.

A.  Umamageswaran, Director, Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. K. Hemalogini, Assistant Director , former Secretary to the Ministry of Rehabilitation Mrs. Shanthi Navukkarasan, Mayurapathi Sri Pathirakali Amman Temple Board of Trustees Chairman  B. Sundaralingam, Jinthjipitiya  Sri Sivasubramania Swamy Temple Board of Trustees Secretary  G.V. Subramanian, Philanthropists  Desamanya Thuraisamy Vigneshwaran and  A. B.  Jayaraj was appointed as a member of the Hindu Cultural Fund by the Prime Minister.

State Minister Sanath Nishantha, Secretary to the Prime Minister Gamini Senarath, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister’s Office Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Prime Minister’s Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs Coordinator Dr. Babu Sharma Ramachandran Kurukkal and Prime Minister’s Coordinator  Senthil Thondaman.were also present.
