COLOMBO : On the 78th National Independence Day, President Anura Kumara Dissanyake reflected on Sri Lanka’s resilient journey amid recent challenges.
Despite obstacles, the nation is making steady progress in restoring economic stability. Over the past eighteen months, collective effort and determination have propelled the country forward, positioning Sri Lanka on the global stage as a nation rooted in integrity and principled politics.
The President emphasised the importance of ensuring that economic gains reach all communities across the country’s provinces, highlighting that inclusive growth is vital for true development.
He acknowledged recent natural disasters, noting that the strong foundations laid over the past months have enabled successful recovery and restoration efforts.
President Dissanyake also pointed out missed opportunities in the past to unite the nation and achieve its aspirations. This time, he affirmed, Sri Lanka is committed to avoiding those past mistakes.
