COLOMBO Following the President’s declaration of a state of emergency to ensure public safety, maintain the normal functioning of the country, and safeguard the continuity of essential supplies and services necessary for public life., the president has appointed Prabath Chandrakeerthi as the Commissioner General of Essestial Services.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has made the appointment as per the powers vested in him under Emergency (Various Provisions and Powers) Regulations No. 11(1) issued under Emergency Regulations No. 1 of 2025 to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential services and to oversee the coordination of all such activities.
Prabath Chandrakeerthi also serves as the Secretary to the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure.
