NEGOMBO : Police are investigating the cause of death of person whose dead body was found in a swimming pool in a tourist hotel in the Negombo town.
The deceased was 36-year-old Terrence Fernando, father of two children living in Louis Place in Negombo town. The hotel is located in Ethukal area in the coastal town of Negombo and the hotel had been serving the quarantine guests during this period.
The deceased relatives have complained that the late Fernando had not returned home after work and have complained to the hotel management.
During a search operation conducted within the hotel, the hotel management had found the dead man’s clothes next to the swimming pool. Subsequent search revealed that the body was inside the swimming pool.
Negombo Respondent Magistrate Indika De Silva, who visited the site, ordered the Chief Medical Officer of the Negombo Hospital to conduct an autopsy and submit a report to the court.
A police team led by Rohana, the officer in charge of crime divisions, is conducting further investigations on the advice of Negombo Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rasika Wattegama.
