Police look for more clues on the deaths of three people who were found dead in a house

GALGAMUWA : Mystery surrounds the deaths of three people, including a 10-year-old boy, whose limp bodies were found in a wattle and daub abode in Galgamuwa during the early hours of Saturday, police said.

The police were informed by suspicious neighbours. Initial investigations have revealed that the dead included a 28-year-old woman, her 10-year-old son and the woman’s alleged paramour.

The woman’s husband is a serving naval rating and was not at home at the time of the incident.

The cause of death of the victims could not be established although the woman’s head had apparently been bashed against a hard surface.

Police suspect that the paramour had allegedly done the mother and son to death before taking his own life.

A cable wire was also found dangling on a beam from the roof but the man was found dead on the floor in close proximity to the woman and her son.

The police also recovered a mammoty from the compound of the home and it was alleged to be the murder weapon.

“The circumstances leading to the three deaths cannot be confirmed until further investigations are completed,” an official of the Galgamuwa Police said.

He said that a postmortem examination that is due to be held today would determine the true cause of their deaths.

Investigations have also revealed that the dead man and his mistress were school time lovers but the parents on both sides had objected to their marriage.

It is suspected that the couple had maintained a close connection even after the woman’s marriage to the naval rating.(SO)
