COLOMBO Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today presented details before the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court regarding three suspects, including former Deputy Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, in connection with five separate murder incidents.
The suspects named in the investigation are Rasik Mohamed Faiz, Hameed Lebbe Mohamed, and Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, also known as Pillayan, who previously served as Chief Minister of the Eastern Province.
The details were presented before Batticaloa Magistrate Annathurai Darshini, as part of ongoing investigations into a series of killings that date back to 2008.
According to submissions made by the CID, the investigations relate to multiple fatal shootings carried out in different locations.
These include the killing of two individuals near a playground adjacent to the Murugan Kovil on January 9, 2008, where the victims were shot using a T-56 firearm.
The CID further reported that another incident involved the shooting and killing of two individuals along the main road in Kattankudy on May 22, 2008.
In addition, investigators presented facts relating to the killing of Alagathurai Dharmalingam, a resident of Koththiyapola in the Vavunathivu Police Division, who was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified armed group. News first
