Petroleum Minister says QR code may be discontinued in the next 3-4 months

COLOMBO: During a recent televised interview Power and Energy Minister, Kanchana Wijesekera said that the QR code system introduced under the National Fuel Pass portal may be discontinued in the next three to four months as it was solely introduced as a temporary solution for fuel management, with an availability of a continuous fuel supply under normal conditions being restored.

He said that fuel prices may rise only in accordance with global fuel prices and the duopoly of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Lanka IOC (LIOC) as the main fuel suppliers in the country may change with the ministry having invited international suppliers under the reorganization process to arrive in the country.
