COLOMBO : Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas has conveyed his heartfelt condolences,on the passing away of Venerable Baddegama Samitha Thero, who passed away last week, “ Samitha Thero, Former M.P. and the Southern Provincial Member, who was a great supporter and advocate of the Palestinian Cause in his ardent belief in justice. Ven. Samitha Thero dedicated his life with hard work to foster awareness of the situation and the difficulties of the Palestinian people living under Israeli aggression,” the messge stated.
“ As a personal friend of the Palestine Ambassador and the Embassy we are deeply saddened by his passing away. He was a living example of the teachings of the Lord Buddha and practiced the path of kindness to all,” the statement concluded.
Palestine Ambassador Dr. Zuhair M.H. Dar Zaid and the Charge de Affaires of the Palestine embassy in Colombo, Hisham Abu Thaha also joined with their president in sending their sympathies and prayers on the demise of the Thero.
