Palestine ambassador, makes a clarion call “ Act Now For Peace and Act Now For Peace”

COLOMBO : Palestine ambassador, Ihab I.M. Khalil called the world community “ Act Now For Peace and Act Now For Peace” at the UN Colombo Peace Film Festival “commemorating the:United Nations International Day of Peace, on Sunday, Sept.21 in Colombo

The programme held under the theme of “Act now For Peaceful world” at an event jointly organized by the embassy with the Office of United Nations in Colombo for screening the Oscar Award winning Palestinian Documentary film ” NO OTHER LAND “

“ We highly value the dedication and remarkable efforts of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations office in S ri Lankan, Mark Andre France, Mrs. Anne Grobet, Mrs. Maya Warakaulle and all the staff of Peace building Unit of UN Office in Colombo and all the Palestinian Embassy staff for their instinted cooperation to make event a grand success.
“ At a crucial juncture as the nations of the world long for peace, it is long overdue for the people of Palestine .
Today, as we gather to mark the International Day of Peace, we are confronted with an inconceivable paradox: while the world aspires for peace, the people of Palestine-particularly in Gaza-are enduring a dark chapter of human suffering. The United Nations Inquiry, has concluded that what is unfolding is
nothing less than genocide at the hands of the occupying power, Israel.
Late July 2025, The High level international peace conference was held in New
York ” for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the
Implementation of the Two- state- Solution .
“Co-Chaired by The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia And the French Republic ; I take this opportunity to whole heartedly thank Saudi Arabia and France for their true leadership on this matter, the ambassador said.

Moreover, the envoy said : “ At UNGA most recent session, 145 nations among them as always, our beloved Sri Lanka adopted the resolution endorsing the New York declaration — Reaffirming the two-state solution as the only viable path to peace , demanding Justice, sovereignty, and dignity for Palestine.”

NO Other LAND, tells the story of the Palestinian community of Masafer Yatta
in the occupied West Bank southern of al-Khalil city.
The OSCAR Award for Best Documentary Film was granted not only as a
recognition of cinematic excellence, but as a testament to the urgency and
truth of the story it tells.
The message of No Other Land resonates far beyond one village. It reflects a
broader Palestinian reality – of dispossession, of families losing their homes, of entire communities deprived of their most basic rights.
And while this film focuses on Masafer Yatta, its echoes are tragically amplified
in Gaza, where millions of our people endure devastation on an
unprecedented scale – besieged, displaced, and facing a humanitarian
catastrophe.)
“ My dear Friends, Here we will be playing a short message form One of the Director of the film Bassel , who was brutally attacked 3 times by the Israeli Occupying Forces at
the very place of this film was documented. And the 3rd attack took place
right after he recorded this message for the Colombo film screening,
I would like to quote Haaretz.com on this incident : ” Israeli forces raided the West Bank home of Oscar-winning Palestinian filmmaker Basel Adra on Saturday after settlers attacked his village and beat
his family member- the third incident targeting activists from “No Other Land”
in recent months.”
