Pakistan, Sri Lanka trusted partners- High Commissioner of Pakistan Major General (R) Muhammad Saad Khattak

“ It is my honour to convey greetings and best wishes of the Government and people of Pakistan to the Government and people of Sri Lankan on the auspicious occasion of the Pakistan Day.

March 23 is a landmark day in the history of Pakistan when the Muslims of the Indian Sub-Continent adopted the historic Lahore Resolution put forth by A. K. Fazal-e-Haq on March 23, 1940 at the famous Minto Park (now Minar-e Pakistan) in the 27th annual meeting of All-India Muslim League.

The Lahore Resolution, which was later on very rightly described as Pakistan Resolution, changed the destiny of the Indian Muslims. It gave an impetus to their struggle and fueled their passion to realize the dream of a separate state. This explains why Pakistan came into being as the largest Islamic state on the map of the world within a short span of seven years in 1947. Today, Pakistan as a flourishing democracy enjoys an honourable place in the comity of nations.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are trusted-partners with historical linkages dating back to the period of Gandhara civilization. Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Sri Lanka, which are based on mutual respect, understanding and close cooperation. To further our bilateral relations particularly in economic field our Prime Minister recently visited Sri Lanka with a business delegation of 40 people.

Pakistan has always extended unconditional support to Sri Lanka with regard to her national security and other needs. I would like to assure the Government and people of Sri Lanka that Pakistan would always stand with them whenever Sri Lanka needs Pakistan’s support.

In the end, I wish to extend to the people of Sri Lanka, its leadership and the government of H.E. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, continued progress, prosperity and peace, in the years ahead.Long live Pakistan-Sri Lanka friendship Pakistan-Zindabad
