COLOMBO : The newly appointed Governor of the Western Province, Hanif Yousoof who assumed duties in the morning on Thursday, Sept.26 at the governorate office in Colombo said here that his task is to strengthen public services and make the poor richer for a peaceful life .
Hanif Yousoof, a big time businessman who has international trade relations with more than. 40 countries, pointed out that progress could only be achieved with the combined effort of all officials.
Stating that the President had discussed with him what change could be brought about, Hanif Yousoof said a system change is required to curtail bribery and corruption, which is currently rampant in public services.
Sharing his experience of Dubai’s public services and digitalization, he revealed that Sri Lanka must look forward to such standards and that he expects to implement such plans by utilising the expertise of the officials.
“I will ensure that the change takes place and we will demonstrate this to the public. Let’s end corruption. Let’s all work together to develop the nation,” he added.
Yousoof is also a.well known philanthropist who had helped ameliorate the living conditions of the poor.
In a jocular mood, he said ; “ With a cup of plain tea and a piece of jugglery I can work well.”
