COLOMBO : On behalf of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh High Commissioner Tareq Md Ariful Islam made a symbolic presentation of mangoes to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Sunday. July18.
Bangladesh premier had sent a consignment of 1,000kgs of Haribhangha mangoes by SriLankan Airlines as gifts to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday,July 10.
The formal handover took place on Sunday. The Sri Lankan Prime Minister expressed his wholehearted gratitude and thanks to the Bangladesh Prime Minister for the gift.
PM Rajapaksa stated that he hoped that it stays symbolic of their fruitful relationship between the two countries.
On Thursday,Juky 8, Bangladesh sent 2,600 kg of Haribhanga mangoes for Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The mangoes were sent to Kolkata in trucks through Benapole Port yesterday. After leaving some for the West Bengal chief minister, the rest will be taken from Kolkata to Delhi by Rajdhani Express.
