RUZAIK FAROOK
COLOMBO — Zahira College Batch of 2016 in collaboration with Old Zahira Hockey Club had organised Lead the Sticks Hockey Carnival at the International Astro Hockey Turf recently.
There were eight teams participated in this carnival: Titans, Stormers, Warriors, Gladiators, Hurricanes, Blazers, Vipers and Falcons. Students from grade six to nine participated. In the final Falcons team defeated Hurricanes team 01 nil.
Chief Guest of the ceremony Zahira College Board of Governors Chairman Fowzul Hameed, Main Sponsor of the event Ceylon Taste Impex Director Basith Mafaz, Colombo Hockey Association President Charitha D. Karunarathna and Secretary of the Colombo Hockey Association Kithmal Perera were presented the champion award to the Falcons team captain Ashfaq Sadik.
Best Midfielder – Mohamed Ihsan from Team Falcons, Best Defender – Mohamed Ubaid from Team Hurricanes, Best Striker – Mohamed Ammar From Team Hurricanes, Player of the Final – Mohamed Yoosuf from Team Falcons, Player of the Tournament – Mohamed Ashfaq from Team Falcons, Runner up – Hurricanes teams and 3rd place – Blazers team received awards and medals from the guest.
Co-sponsor – VIP Clearing Agent Abdur Razak, Abdul Sattar, Mohamed Imran, Zahira College Board of Governors Secretary Nuzri Munsoor, Old Boys Association President Hazik Jaleel, Board of Governors Sports Commiittee Chairman Jaufer Sadik and Zahira College Hockey Team Teacher in Charge Mrs. Shihana Annon also presented awards and medals to the winners.
