OIC SG,Pakistani premier discuss the situation in Afghanistan and in Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamophobia

JEDDAH : The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hissein Ibrahim Taha held discussions with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Imran Khan, on Sunday, December 19, on the sidelines of the 17th Session of the Emergency Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan.

The Two sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan, and the importance of mobilizing efforts to provide support and aid to the Afghan people, and to provide urgent assistance to achieve security and stability.

The two sides also discussed developments in the Jammu and Kashmir issue and the OIC efforts to support the Kashmiri people in their struggle to obtain their legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination, enshrined in all the resolutions of the Islamic Summit conferences and CFM meetings, as well as the resolutions of the United Nations and the International Security Council.

The two sides also addressed the escalation of Islamophobia and reviewed the OIC and Pakistan’s efforts to combat this phenomenon.

Pakistan complained time and again about the Indian involvement in Afghanistan and using it against the interests of Pakistan. India has every right to have a presence in Afghanistan and this should not be worrisome for Pakistan; nevertheless, sabotage under the guise of diplomacy is something condemnable. However, the Taliban takeover has become India’s worst nightmare and it has already lost its terror networks. It has also lost the ground it gained under the Ghani Government. On the other hand, Pakistan is concerned about Afghanistan, as historically, Islamabad gave shelter to millions of Afghan refugees for decades and worked relentlessly for their rehabilitation. It is laudable that Pakistan didn’t create hurdles for transiting the wheat New Delhi sent for Afghan people.
