No way ! President has to step down- JVP leader

COLOMBO:The Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Anura Kumara Dissanayake stressed that the National People’s Force will not agree for an interim Government to be formed under the current President.

The JVP Leader stated that he does not agree with the proposal for an interim Government which is campaigning for the same President to remain in his seat, as the main demand of the protestors is for the President to resign.

Dissanayake said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa only wants to keep power in his hands, no matter what confusion is created among the people and even if the state machinery collapses.

Pointing out that the whole country has been plunged into an abyss due to his actions, Dissanayake said that he thinks the people of this country should end the nepotism rule.

“Therefore, our proposal is that this President should step down. Two, this government should step down. Then there should be some inter-parliamentary administration for a very limited time. A general election should be held soon,” he added.-News first
