Muslims and the Horror of Forced Cremation

A poem by A.M.M.Muzammil

In the name of justice
What happened was injustice.
By the pretext of the COVID-19 pandemic,
Muslims were marginalized and traumatized
Under Gota’s cruel, inhuman reign
Not even a toddler was spared.
Like Judas, some Muslim MPs betrayed their community,
Those Opportunistic men pocketed millions with impunity;
Yet a defiant few stood firm, unbowed in integrity,
Raising their voices loud against such brutal cruelty.
Leading Muslim Ulema became, overnight, deaf and blind;
They did nothing to alleviate the community’s misery.
O Ulema! What a shame!
One Mufti even begged for ashes.
Ordinary Muslims prayed only for Allah’s protection,
And Allah answered their prayers.
Gota, the powerful tyrant, met a disgraceful end,
The people’s curse pursued him—no fate to defend.
Today, we commemorate the sixth anniversary
Of the forced cremations
With a candlelight vigil.
Let all perpetrators beware:
Their crimes against humanity cannot hide.
The law of Karma will follow them soon;
Justice may be delayed,
But it cannot be denied
May Allah grant peace and solace
To the families
Of those who were denied dignity
Even in death.
