International Human Rights Activist Muheed Jeeran made a desperate appeal to his political friends in UK to secure Oxford, AstraZeneca vaccine to Sri Lankans people as the island is in need of more Anti-Covid vaccine to cater to the local demand. The country is already facing the third wave and sufficient number of people have not been vaccinated.
The activist Muheed said :
” I contacted my friend, British MP Henry Smith who is a member of the UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee and Henry, who respomded responded positively to my request. I am confident our dear friend, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will play a major role to rescue the commonwealth nations from Covid pandemic. As we are aware now the Great Britain having the complete sovereign power to make its own decisions independently as it has successfully came out of the European Union now.
British Parliamentarian Henry Smith stated that the British PM Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden will be announcing a global covid vaccine plan at the upcoming G7 summit next week. Henry further said “For my part I will be requesting for the vaccines for Sri Lanka which is our senior member of the Commonwealth.”
However Muheed decided to go on a global vaccine campaign as he states:
” This is the gross violation of human rights where the rich nations have greedily taken up the interest of their own people without looking into the interest of the others living in the third world, Therefore, he said : “ It is the moral responsibility of the developed nations to support the country like Sri Lanka as they should not expect an appeal from the third world rather they must voluntarily come.” forward to help us.
