MFCD distributes dry ration hampers, hygienic kits

COLOMBO :  In collaboration with government agencies – GA, AGA and NGO coordinators, the Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development,MFCD, came forward to help the vulnerable and needy families who were adversely affected by the   incessant rain that lashed the country during the past several days.  In addition, hygienic kits which are the first line of defense against the spread of illness too were provided to maintain personal hygiene.

  All in all, MFCD distributed 150 hygienic kits and 175 dry ration hampers where it is needed most , to Colombo, Gampaha , Minuwangoda, Kalutara and Moratuwa under the guidance of  AGAs’ Nalaka Rathnayaka, Sugath Kithsiri and Ms. Ishanka Udawatta as well as through the supervision of NGO coordinators Ms .Nimmi Iresha and Thilina Sanjaya respectively.

Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development (MFCD) is a non-profit humanitarian organization, duly incorporated by act of parliament (No.28 of 2008) of Sri Lanka. It is also accredited as a member of the Asian Disaster Relief and Response Network (ADRRN) as well as a registered member of National NGO Secretariat at Ministry of Social Welfare.

 MFCD’s primary objective is to help those less fortunate, alleviate suffering and provides emergency relief, rescue, rehabilitation and post-disaster response. Over the years it has rightly earned a reputation for its swift response and disaster management / relief programmes which assists disaster victims as well as other vulnerable groups.

 In a way, MFCD is somewhat functioning as a multi-faceted foundation addressing a wide array of societal issues for the betterment of the community, irrespective of caste, creed and religion. 

Since the outbreak of the third wave pandemic, vulnerable people across the country have faced multiple challenges, including the loss of income. The recent flood has worsened the situation and in a way, the victims faced the double-whammy.
