As the President of the Sri Lanka-Indonesia Friendship Association (SLIFA) it gives me great pleasure in sending this message of felicitation on the occasion of the 78th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia
Warm greetings are extended to the President, His Excellency Joko Widodo, Ambassador Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing, and the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia. Sri Lanka has always maintained strong and friendly ties with Indonesia since time immemorial due to the similarities in the language, culture, attire, cuisine, and religion.
In fact, the present Ambassador, Her Excellency Dewi Gustina Tobing during her short tenure of office in Sri Lanka, has fostered a high sense of friendship and has promoted cultural, social, and trade relations which have mutually beneficial to both countries. On 1 October 2022, Cultural and Charity Bazaar organized jointly by the Indonesian Embassy and SLIFA, stands as proof. It was a tremendous success, so much so that the Embassy and SLIFA are jointly organizing the second consecutive Cultural and Charity Bazaar on September 02, 2023.
SLIFA with the close cooperation of all Ambassadors and the Diplomatic Staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Sri Lanka has been promoting closer cultural, social, and trade relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia in keeping with the objectives of our association at all times.
Once again, SLIFA extends its warm wishes to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia.
