COLOMBO : It gives me great pleasure and honor to extend to Your Excellency and peoples of Vietnam, my warm felicitations and best wishes on the occasion of the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka enjoy longstanding and traditional friendship, shared principles, common understanding and mutual cooperation, more focus on revitalizing and nurturing our bilateral relations with a focus on expanding the economic, investment, trade and commercial dimension would be useful in my view. I am happy to note that the mutual cooperation and collaboration in multilateral and regional forums based on shared values and principles have brought the two countries even closer during recent years.
Both Vietnam and Sri Lanka have been active partners in the sphere of regional and international arena on socio-economic development as well as peace, harmony and stability in the region. I am pleased to observe the role of Vietnam in the UN, ASEAN, ARF, HR and RCEP, amongst others, whilst supporting the interest of each other. It was indeed a pleasure to meet and interact with you on the sidelines of the 30th ARF Meeting in Jarkata in last July.
Vietnam’s unprecedented socio-economic progression, after the Doi Moi reforms nearly 40 years ago, have played a critical and seminal role in uplifting millions of Vietnamese and establishing Vietnam as a pivotal partner in trade, tourism, manufacturing and Investment in Asia as well as in the world, while positively changing the image and profile of the country in a single generation.
Please accept, Excellency, my sincere best wishes for your personal well-being, happiness and every success in all your endeavors and assurances of my highest consideration.
